What Happens When The Bush Tax Cuts Expire?

Posted by TheJOTUS on August 22, 2010

Basically everyone will have their taxes increase.  And married couples and families will be the hardest hit:

Taxes will soar in a number of critical areas, read below to see just how our bloated government plans to take more and more from all of us:

First Wave: Expiration of 2001 and 2003 Tax Relief

In 2001 and 2003, Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These are all currently set to expire on January 1, 2011:

Personal income tax rates will rise. The top income tax rate will rise from 35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate at which two-thirds of small business profits are taxed). The lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15 percent. All the rates in between will also rise. Itemized deductions and personal exemptions will again phase out, which has the same mathematical effect as higher marginal tax rates. The full list of marginal rate hikes is below:

- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
- The 25% bracket rises to 28%
- The 28% bracket rises to 31%
- The 33% bracket rises to 36%
- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%

This will affect people of all income levels!

Higher taxes on marriage and family. The “marriage penalty” (narrower tax brackets for married couples) will return from the first dollar of income. The child tax credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per child. The standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples relative to the single level. The dependent care and adoption tax credits will be cut. This will affect all people who are married and/or have children.

It was the democrats in both 2001 and 2003, that allowed those bills cutting the tax rates require hard-and-fast provisions creating an expiration date without any other action. We are now just a few short months away from that expiration date after seven years of seeing it coming.   Including more than 3 years of democratic control of Congress and almost 2 years of President 3 iron’s administration.

If nothing is done soon, then we are going to see the ‘murican people burdened with a nearly $4 trillion tax hike.

Hey, Who Has Two Thumbs And Fleeced The American People Out Of $250g’s?

Posted by TheJOTUS on August 10, 2010

This chic.

Ok……just so I get this straight in my head:  She takes a wealthy vacation while he criticizes the, errrrrr, wealthy?  Well then, that certainly makes Obama’s class warfare schtick sound even more ridiculous than usual.

Old and busted:  Encouraging the layman to vacation down to the oil covered gulf while enjoying your own vacation up in Maine.

New hotness:  Expensive, lavish vacations overseas while unemployment nears 10%.

It’s good to be the Obamas.

MAY 11, 2009 – “I will not rest until the dream of health care reform is finally achieved in the United States of America”

NOVEMBER 2, 2009 – “We will not rest until we are succeeding in generating the jobs that this economy needs”

NOVEMBER 23, 2009 – “I will not rest until business are investing again, and businesses are hiring again”

Again…You.  Lie.

Hoping Of An Obama Failure

Posted by TheJOTUS on July 3, 2010

I great piece on how failure is always an option (yeah, I know it’s old):

I was going to write about the curious fact that it’s not only mathematically possible but now even somewhat plausible that Republicans could take over the Senate in November; but everybody and his monkey’s paw is already going on about that. So I’m shifting gears: Instead, I’ll argue against Michael Medved and every other conservative who repeats the stupid mantra that “Of course we hope President Obama is successful!”

That way, my only competition is Rush Limbaugh, whose explanation is kind of shallow, to tell the truth.

When some caller presses Medved on what the heck he means, he has a pat, memorized answer. Alas, it’s a complete non-sequitur. Medved invariably explains that he doesn’t mean he hopes Barack H. Obama succeeds in passing card check, implementing energy cripple and tax, closing Gitmo, ending the war against the Iran/al-Qaeda Axis, nationalizing more banks and other corporations, raising taxes, spending us into oblivion, and for dessert, foisting ObamaCare on the charred remains. Rather, Medved insists that by “I hope the president is successful,” he means he hopes that Obama succeeds in leading America to prosperity, security, and liberty.

This explanation is nothing but Mueslix on stilts: nutty, flakey, and wobbly all at the same time.

Medved is engaging in what I call “Argument by Tendentious Redefinition.” With that rhetorical trick, proponent takes an ordinary, simple English-language word (such as “success”) and secretly redefines it to a meaning whose only purpose is to win the argument — while still relying upon people imagining that he still means the generally accepted definition. In this case, the word “success” (meaning, achieving a goal one has set) is transmogrified to mean, achieving the goal diametrically opposite what one has enunciated, but which happens to be more congenial to the “well-wisher.”

When Michael Medved or any of a score of conservative pundits says he hopes Obama succeeds, it’s really code for saying he hopes Obama converts to conservatism. While that may be a laudible wish, it’s definitely not covered by the word “success.”

……But I have never in my entire life been a liberal; I was never trained to think of a black man or some other minority as a representative of some group, or that his failure was due to the white man “holding him down for 300 years,” as many blacktivists insist. Consequently, I feel no guilt whatsoever wishing abject failure upon Barack H. Obama: Success as Obama defines it is anathema to me, so why on Earth would I wish for it?

In fact, one of our most important rights is the right to fail: By failing, we learn, we grow, we mature… or at least we can. And I would never be so cruel as to take away anybody’s right to fail by, e.g., supporting a government Bureau of Bad Breaks, which tries to make good (at taxpayer expense) any setback or adverse result of poor judgment — like not buying health insurance and then getting sick or injured. That’s a liberal idea, and I despise it as unAmerican and infantalizing.

I particularly like his comment on how he has never been a liberal.  I too, have felt this way.  Even as a kid I always had, what I now know as, conservative beliefs.  I knew that if I wanted something I had to work for it.  It wasn’t just given to me.  I knew that whatever punishment I received it was because of the actions or decisions I made.  It wasn’t George W. Bush or the “man” bring me down.

Anyway, check it out, it’s a good read.

April 15 – Tax Day

Posted by TheJOTUS on April 15, 2010

Better get ‘em done folks.  Cause the taxman, he’s a comin’.  But not to worry.  The IRS has a YouTube channel!  Yayyy!  It posts helpful tips regarding taxes including top mistakes, help with record keeping, charitable contributions, etc, etc.  There are also other helpful sections like learning to make an appeal or how to get tax breaks to get back on your feet.

You might also be able to find out how to apply K-Y® lubricating jelly.  Not sure if it is tax deductible though.  My suggestion is depending on your pain threshold, a good rule of thumb is to apply as necessary.

In related news, anyone who’s not a libtard couldn’t possibly be surprised by this headline:  Healthcare law to sock middle class with a $3.9 billion tax increase in 2019.  I’ll save you the click though.  People making under 200k a year will pay more in taxes.  But I thought “no family making less than $250,000 per year will see any form of tax increase”?  Well, you were lied to.  Duped, bamboozled and hoodwinked.

In other words:  You lied Mr. president.  You.  Lied.

Obama’s Sweet Nothings

Posted by TheJOTUS on March 30, 2010

I promise I will pull out, I won’t come in your mouth, just the tip ok baby?, I promise it won’t hurt, Of course I love you…

Sound familiar?  In other words it’s shit Obama says to get elected or what he wants.  A comprehensive list of Obama’s statements and the inevitable expiration date:

HEALTH CARE MANDATES

STATEMENT: “We’ve got a philosophical difference, which we’ve debated repeatedly, and that is that Senator Clinton believes the only way to achieve universal health care is to force everybody to purchase it. And my belief is, the reason that people don’t have it is not because they don’t want it but because they can’t afford it.” Barack Obama, speaking at a Democratic presidential debate, February 21, 2008.

EXPIRATION DATE: On March 23, 2010, Obama signed the individual mandate into law.

RAISING TAXES

STATEMENT: “No family making less than $250,000 will see any form of tax increase.” (multiple times on the campaign trail)

EXPIRATION DATE: Broken multiple times, including the raised taxes on tobacco, a new tax on indoor tanning salons, but most prominently on February 11, 2010: “President Barack Obama said he is “agnostic” about raising taxes on households making less than $250,000 as part of a broad effort to rein in the budget deficit.”

GUANTANAMO BAY

STATEMENT: Executive Order stating, “The detention facilities at Guantánamo for individuals covered by this order shall be closed as soon as practicable, and no later than one year from the date of this order.” January 22, 2009.

EXPIRATION DATE: November 19, 2009: “Guantánamo, we had a specific deadline that was missed.”

And on, and on, and on.  Lies.  Lie after lie after lie.

And in the end who wakes up sticky, broke and confused?  The American people.

America Repealed, Obama Signs Health Care Bill

Posted by TheJOTUS on March 23, 2010

History was made today when Obama signed the economy crushing health care bill.  So historical that The Weather Channel–The fucking Weather Channel–broke into its regularly scheduled, well, weather, to take viewers to the Obama signing of the House health care ceremony.  It’s not like viewers had no other options.  There had to have been 10 other channels, like fucking news channels, that had live coverage of the ceremony.  The one channel you think you could go to get away from this trainwreck, and The Weather Channel breaks from normal programming.

The president had a big day today.  Said this was historical and blah, blah, blah.  Said he was signing this bill for his mom.  Was reeeeeaaal excited about all the free health care we are all going to get.  By the way, Inigo Montoya just emailed:  Free, You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I think it’s cute when the president tries to explain what our country is or should be, since it’s obvious he doesn’t really understand the character of the people now rejecting him and his agenda.

Heck, even Slow Joe Biden thinks this is a “big fucking deal”.  Yeah, you either read or saw that right.  On a day where the democrats finally realize their socialist dream and historical historicalness, Slow Joe drops one big F-bomb.  Classy.

You know, they said if I voted for John McCain I would get a stupid idiot for Vice President.  Well by golly, they were right!

The Democrats have won the day–the battle, but not the war.  We will submit our visions for America to the people in the coming elections.  Then we will know what path America will select once and for all.  Margret Thatcher once said “the problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people’s money”.  We need to move forward, stay on message and fight.

Spineless Coward Announces “Yes” Vote For ObamaCare

Posted by TheJOTUS on March 21, 2010

Bart Stupak (D, Sellout) announced a few minutes ago that he was voting yes on ObamaCare.  Stupak has said for months that he wouldn’t vote for a bill that had federal tax dollars to fund abortion, which this bill has.  Now he has reached a deal with the democrat leadership and the White House where the president would sign an executive order ensuring that no federal funding will go to pay for abortion under the health reform plans.

Memo to Stupak, an Executive Order cannot overturn the law.  Once the House passes the Senate bill, it proceeds to Obama’s desk for a signature and becomes law.  If the law says its X, a contradicting Executive Order saying Y is null and void.  The President can not rescind a law at the stroke of a pen, or deny someone (or some organization) federal money to which they are entitled.  Even if there is some way to avoid a conflict there, a subsequent law specifically overruling the EO would trump it.  And for now, democrats have a majority for that.

So Stupak is either incompetent or a fool  You pick.  You sold out on an empty promise not worth the paper it is printed on.

Today the democrats achieve their dream of filling in a hole in the goal of Cradle to Grave socialism.  From SCHIP to ObamaCare and Medicare, the government will control your health care.  And that is just the start baby.

Alexis de Tocqueville said “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”

Once again, I leave you with Chocolate Bunny Death Kill.

It’s a metaphor…just in case incompetent fools like Stupak are reading…
